John Jay Platko, 60, of Arlington, MA, formerly of Frackville, passed away Sunday at his residence.
Born in Pottsville, October 16, 1957, he was a son of the late John and Helen Cooper Platko.
He was a graduate of Cardinal Brennan High School and the Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
He worked as an Electrical Engineer in the Boston and California for twenty-five years.
John’s hobbies included designing and making guitars. He enjoyed playing the blues, painting landscapes, reading, home repair, taking walks in nature and spending time with his family.
John is survived by his wife Jane Platko; sister; Joan Krasnisky and husband Bernard, Doylestown; step-children; Sarah Bahm, Jennifer Bahm Mohan and husband Pat; both in California; and Damion Bahm, and wife, Danielle of New York; step-grandchildren; Mikaela, Colin and Miles Mohan, California; nephew; Bernard John Krasnisky, Doylestown; and niece; Joanna Krasnisky and fiancée Casey Stockton, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Divine Liturgy with burial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning in St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, Frackville, with Rev. Petro Zvarych, as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation Saturday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery, Englewood/Frackville.
